In Bangkok Soi 55 off Sukhumvit is known as an upscale street with many fashionable restaurants, bars and shops. You will also find more upscale condos here. To locate Soi 55, take the Sukhumvit skytrain line and exit at Thong Lor Station, this takes you right to Soi 55. Walk about 300 meters up Soi 55 past a variety of street food vendors, one of which has a sign saying we have the 5th best Pad Thai in the world, (I digress) and turn left on Soi 1 where you will find the small but cute Salil Hotel. I would say this is a true boutique hotel, it has a colonial look to it. Its tucked away off of quiet Soi. There’s an attractive courtyard with a garden dining area and a small pool and many of the rooms of Juliet balconies with french doors. I recommend staying at the Salil Hotel in Thong Lor area of Soi 55. The only knock I have against it is that the rooms are small. The hotel itself has charm and its very quiet and quaint, the service is reasonable but not overly attentive. Most rooms are in the $60 USD range but I think people find comfort and enjoyment here. You can take a tuk tuk up Soi 55 to check out the fashionable restaurants.
