Booking a River Kwai Tour

About our 3 day, 2 night tour that we booked to the FloatHouse on River Kwai. on I think everyone who comes to Thailand should consider a River Kwai tour. Its not a beach but it is a tropical jungle setting and once you are on the river you can swim, kayak, elephant ride, explore caves, or go cycling.  People love floating down the river and he water is warm and inviting. Our tour to Floathouse had many interesting aspects – l’m just going to cover a few highlights. Its easy to search the River Kwai tours on, they tell you what you need to know. Tour Choice gives you 5 or 6 tours to choose from.   I can tell you that you get exactly what’s described , no disappointments for us at all, very happy to say. There are many images to look at on

The pick up at our Bangkok hotel went exactly as planned, the bus trip had no issues. I thought it was interesting to hear the Thai perspective on WWII history regarding the River Kwai area and the limited Japanese occupation of the area which lead to the building of the bridge over the River Kwai. This area is steeped in history. Tour highlights for us were the War Museum in Kanchanaburi, Hell Fire Pass and the Death Railway. These do not disappoint, especially the museum. We felt ourselves walking into a time capsule with numerous rooms staged to showcase the conditions of the day.

Once we finally arrived at the Floathouse Resort we absolutely loved it. Very relaxing and peaceful is an understatement. A first class resort, its new, the rooms have air con. It was hot, but relaxing on our private balcony over looking the river  with ice cold beers was almost beyond words, really, a feeling of total calm overcame us. It was like we had arrived at our own private paradise. We have traveled a lot in Thailand and the feeling here is totally unique. There are several other resorts to choose from, Jungle Rafts and Hintok tented river camping on the River Kwai, all very cool I am told.

We loved the caving and swimming in the river, both very cool. This area of Thailand has some caves. I would say definitely do not miss a River Kwai tour.
