The fresh seafood market in Rawai Beach goes down as one of our best experiences on our trip to Phuket. After leaving Koh Phi Phi, we went back to Phuket direct to Nai Harn Beach, only a 30 minute drive from the Rassada Boat Pier on Phuket. Nai Harn is nestled in between Kata Beach and Rawai Beach. We love Nai Harn beach mostly because it is still a mellow relaxed place with a great beach where you can escape the crowds of Kata Beach or Karon Beach. It’s attractive, charming, it has a treed area behind the beach, only 3 hotels are in the immediate beach area, all the rest are inland a bit.
Nai Harn Beach is an excellent beach for body surfing, the waves roll in and break perfectly! So if that is not reason enough to get you there, then the seafood market in Rawai should be. Rawai Beach is a fishing village. Its only a 10 minute motor bike ride away from Nai Harn Beach. Beside the Rawai pier is an excellent fresh seafood market with the day’s fresh catch right off the boats. I think the market opens at 5 pm. Here you will find a bounty of fresh crab, shrimp and many types of fish and we had no trouble spending 500 Baht to feed 4 people. And wouldn’t you know it, but right across the road from the fresh seafood market are about a dozen Thai restaurants who are willing to cook your catch. Well, another 500 Baht later including 4 large beers, we had all enjoyed our best meal ever. You just turn your catch over to the restaurant and voila, 15 minutes later, your seafood reappears on your table, the flavors, the food and the presentation were excellent.
