Shopping for Vintage Treasures at JJ Green in Bangkok

JJ Green is a relatively new open air market right next to Thailand’s most famous weekend market Chatuchak (also known as Jatujak or JJ). During the day time JJ Green is a quaint community mall retail enclave with small air conditioned shops, but at night fall the area turns into a cool night market not dissimilar to the popular Talad Rot Fai (train market) that has now moved to a new location on Srinakarin Road.

The JJ Green evening market on the weekend is especially cool as it has a bit of a going-out vibe to it with bars playing music. Many visitors who’ve spent the day at JJ proper browsing the countless alleys that make up Thailand’s largest market make a pit stop here for a bite and drink.

The market selection includes an eclectic mix of new and old furniture and interior decorations, plus clothes, bags, accessories, bicycles and antiques. Parts of the market have a retro flea market vibe about it, making it an ideal spot to pick up a unique present or one-off souvenir for someone that already has it all.

JJ Green is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. although on the weekend it turns in a lot later till the number of visitors start to die down. (To get there, follow the directions at the end of the blog.)

There are lots of cheap beauty products and make up at JJ Green. Some vendors authenticity to their branded products, however improbable at these prices. On the other hand, who doesn't love nail polish at 20 baht?
