In the Thai language, the word Koh means island and Noi means small or little. A useful expression in Thai is “nid noi” which means a little bit. When asked if you like spicy food, you can always reply “nid noi”… but I digress before I even start. The island, called Koh Yao Noi is perfectly positioned in the Andaman Sea in between Phuket and Krabi. Its called Koh Yao Noi because a neighboring and larger island is called Koh Yao Yai and yes, Yai means large or big. Very easy to get to from Bangkok, you can fly to the Krabi or Phuket. I prefer Krabi because it is less busy but you might find a slightly cheaper fair to Phuket. Either way, the Paradise Koh Yao Resort & Spa will make arrangements to have you greeted and picked up at the Krabi Airport or the Phuket Airport in a mini van. From there in both cases, its about a 35 minute drive to the pier where you will catch a waiting speedboat to take you directly to the Paradise Koh Yao Resort. During peak season, traffic can be occasionally be busy in Phuket, so the drive could take a bit longer.
